TF3 FIELDNOTES

A simple privacy note.

Search stays in your browser

Search and topic filters run on the page. The site code does not send your search terms to an analytics service or store them in cookies or local storage.

Display preferences

Language is selected through the page URL. Your theme choice is stored in local storage in this browser. It is used to remember your display preference and is not sent to us as an analytics event.

No accounts or forms

This edition does not include reader accounts, comment forms, email subscriptions or site-added audience analytics. We do not request personal details through this website.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense code for site verification and advertising integration. Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and browser information to provide and measure advertising, subject to applicable consent requirements. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage advertising preferences in My Ad Center. Installing this code does not indicate approval or guarantee that ads will appear.

Traffic measurement

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, adds a lightweight Web Analytics beacon that measures aggregate page views and performance. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics is privacy-first: it does not use cookies and does not collect personal data, and it is not used for advertising. See the Cloudflare Web Analytics documentation for details.

Hosting and external links

The hosting service may process ordinary request information to serve and protect the site. That processing is outside this page’s client-side code. Official-source links take you to other websites whose privacy practices apply there. The host’s platform terms remain separate from this editorial note.

Changes

This notice was updated on September 11, 2026 to disclose the Google AdSense integration. It will be reviewed when our data practices change.

Adsterra advertising

Updated October 7, 2026. Our homepage and articles include one Adsterra 300×250 banner. Before loading this placement, we check a country code with our hosting provider at /cdn-cgi/trace. For visitors identified in the EU, EEA, United Kingdom or Switzerland, or when the location is unknown, we ask before loading Adsterra. In other recognized countries, the placement can load automatically unless you have declined or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. This is this site’s loading policy, not a statement that all other countries have identical privacy rules.

The localStorage keys tfg-ad-choice-v1 and tfg-ad-geo-v1 remember your allow or decline choice for up to 180 days and the country code for up to 24 hours. The IP address and other trace fields are not stored in these preferences. The first successful location check may refresh the page once to load the advertisement; a failed or timed-out check leaves the choice with you. If storage is unavailable, we ask. An allowance then applies to the next page load only, using a temporary same-tab flag; a refusal may also be remembered in that tab.

Use “Disable advertising” to decline, or “Ad preferences” beside the placement to change your choice. Changing an active allowance disables the placement first. Allowing or disabling it refreshes the page so the vendor code can start or stop. A refusal prevents this placement from loading on subsequent pages while the choice remains available. Removing the advertisement cannot undo data already sent to advertising partners or delete their cookies. These controls cover this Adsterra placement only; Google AdSense is described separately above. See Adsterra’s privacy policy for the network’s data practices.
